Today I wanted to push myself a little bit, so I ran my usual 15 km on a different route, with 650m EG instead of the usual 500m while keeping my pace below 7. I've managed that a few times before on the same route, but unfortunately it didn't work out today, maybe also because of the jungle like trails 🤪

Still it was a nice run, including some spectators who watched me sweat with complete disinterest 🐄🐮

Can any #iPhone ninjas out there help me please?

I have set up a few automation shortcuts and would like to add another that turns on Bluetooth when I open the #Garmin Connect app and turns off Bluetooth when I close it. I've failed to find a way to do this. Bluetooth doesn't seem to be something that can be automated as I would like.

Is this correct, or is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Thanks to @voorstad I've moved over to @gadgetbridge for my watch.

Thus far the only things I am missing are: fitness age & swimming style. Probably solvable by looking at the raw db data myself as the first can be calculated and the second is part of the watch data & visible on the watch itself.

I am incredibly disappointed by the quality of technical support and customer service at #Garmin. Over the past month, their tech-support people have been guiding my mechanic with troubleshooting advice, ignoring his original claims of a specific bad part. Finally, after replacing everything on the system except the part he wanted to replace, we replaced that part. And guess what? It works.

Meanwhile, I'm on the hook for at least 20 hours of labor.

I am quite a big fan of the Garmin Etrex series. They're light. They run on AA batteries. They have zero reliance on a mobile signal, apps, updates or whatever.

But damn, it's soooo underpowered. The model line desperately needs refreshing with a new SoC, and a slightly bigger and higher ppi screen (another 1cm would be perfect, and maybe 800x480 res).

Much as everyone moans about the UI, I think it's fairly intuitive and everyone knows the layout, so I think just reskinning it for legibility but keeping the same design principles would make sense.

And FFS, just buy Gaia maps from Outside. Use their tiles as the standard accross the board for all Garmin devices, and use their app ecosystem and web UI to replace the cluster of ducks that passes for whatever abomination it is Garmin summoned from the pits of early 2000s car satnavs.

Just did Hyrox fitness test. I think I died a little. Completed it in. 37 minutes.

1. 1000m Run (outdoor or treadmill at 2% incline)
2. 50 Burpee Broad Jumps (90 cm)
3 100 Stationary Lunges (Fully Extended)
4. 1000m Row
5. 30 Push Up (Hand Release)
6. 100 Wallballs (6kg male / 4 kg female)

I still had the #Garmin #LiveTrack of one of the #Madleen crew up in my browser today and now the track is confusing as hell, with one end showing up in Jordan?

I can't tell what has been happening because I did not follow it overnight.

Distressing AF what has happened.

Not unsurprising, unfortunately, as Israel now exists as a lawless, terrorist state, flaunting all norms and international laws.

I figure the only reason the crew weren't killed on the spot (as happened with a previous attempt by aid workers to land by boat) was all of the live coverage and the visible and well-known people on board.

Keep agitating for their release and keep the coverage going.

* in reviewing media briefly, it does look like they had dead man's switch videos ready to go in case of capture, but those are not being widely publicized. Al Jazeera is one of the only places that I have found them so far, yet they are not being indicated as having been made prior to the voyage. They're clearly not being made from captivity, though. I don't have much time the rest of the day-to-day to look into this, but I know other people will, and I'll keep checking back when I can.

I didn't know it was World Bicycle Day - I ride pretty much every day. Today, I happened to notice that I earned a badge on Garmin Connect. So there. #garmin #beatyesterday

Next up is a meeting with my city's mayor to ask why his constituents have fewer opportunities to be heard, why he deprioritized Safe Routes to School in favor of a street sweeper, and what he plans to do if ICE/HSI kidnaps somebody in the city.
