Devin Prater :blind:I was working with a student on practicing for the GED. We started with math. The first question was a simple word question. That works fine. The second was nothing. There was no question before the answer choices. Just a few empty clickable elements. OCR gave me something, but being math, I didn't want to trust its output. Besides that, it didn't seem to OCR the whole question. I can fix that, but it's more steps for the student to remember. Windows 11, NVDA, Microsoft Edge. I also tried with Orca on Linux and Firefox. JDSI predict that within 7 years, a <a href="https://awscommunity.social/tags/Florida" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Florida</a> high school <a href="https://awscommunity.social/tags/diploma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#diploma</a> will not be accepted for admission to the majority of colleges across the country. The kids will have to get an in state <a href="https://awscommunity.social/tags/education" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#education</a> which will be suspect to many employers. Or also need a <a href="https://awscommunity.social/tags/GED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GED</a>It will take decades for the state to come back from this. And any other that follows.

For example long before DeSantis, Florida was basically shunting underperforming students into terrible private HS (maybe even worse than yours) to improve the school system's No Child Left Behind scores. Then there's the women (Boebert's* a good example) - or men, FTM - who get married or have a kid before graduation. _ *there's a million reasons to hate on Boebert but having a GED shouldn't be one of them.

FeralRobotsMy wife's got a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GED</a> & she's also got a BA, 2 Masters & a PhD, & is widely cited in her field, so to hell with the GED-shaming bullshit.(Also one of my smarter ex-girlfriends never had any post-HS degree. People were usually shocked to learn that. She'd been an account manager at IBM & had a bunch of other very responsible white collar jobs.)
