Nazo<p>Ok, Steam's patch system is getting out of control. After one game finally finished taking 30 minutes to apply a 320MB patch on a pretty decently fast NVMe SSD, Baldur's Gate 3 downloaded a < 3GB patch that requires more than 140GB free space to install. It's literally faster and easier to redownload BG3 on a slow connection than to delete a whole bunch of stuff to clear up that much space, remember what I deleted, then reinstall all those...</p><p>I don't know, I never really seemed to be able to get into BG3. SiltiCrafts creatrix Kristine<p>Talking about dyeing with plants... Here is the easiest way to get a nice plant print on fabric. Toddler shirts with unexplainable stains made me try to put more stains on those shirts to prolong their life just a bit. I'm trying to use everything until it lasts and reuse, recycle and upcycle to last a little longer, waste less, buy less. I hate to throw out those perfectly usable shirts that just look terribly dirty because of plant, fruit and berry stains that happens in enormous amounts for kids who live outdoors whole summer long. Well, pretty plant stains put on shirts with the hammer stay pretty for about 3-4 times in the washing machine. </p><p>I was dreaming to hammer plants on a table cloth last summer, but I didn't get there. This is an easy way to get the juices of plants on textiles you aren't planning to wash too often. Doll fabrics, a tie, maybe... altar cloths? </p><p>It's also a productive way to release anger, frustration and agression. Asheville Charlie<p>People who pretend their obviously untrained dog are service animals really get on my nerves. </p><p>It also gets on my nerves that there's 0% things you can legally check or do about it once they say the words service animal. </p><p>Don't get me wrong I am super supportive for people who need service animals. Luny<p>Time for a Luny Rant (you know a problem shared.). So I applied to go back to my previous job (Medium friendly company owned by large corp. Group), had the interviews and did well. Everyone in the company wants me back. But the final offer has to be signed of by the owner of the group, as he likes to micro-manage everything. Its been six weeks since the CTO signed off my offer. The managers in the company have tried escalations and diplomacy to get him to sign off. It is very frustrating as I'm currently unemployed due to redundancy and only getting a few interests in the market. Aaron :bc:🖖 ⬅️ into bean pâté<p>I tried to set up Docker and Dockge, then I tried to make a Jellyfin container. It didn’t go well at all. I couldn’t find any clear, working configuration examples for getting Jellyfin container to look at my external SSD for media files. I spent 12 hours yesterday on and off, looking at conflicting tutorials and smug how-tos and I’m done with Docker and associated external drive frustration. Docker whale, meet ocean. 🐳 🚽 👋 </p><p>I just straight up slapped Jellyfin on Ubuntu from the repository and launched it. It’s running now. I had to futz around with directory permissions to get it to access the external SSD. I learned a lot about chown and chmod, but mostly chown -R lol. 😆 </p><p>Ubuntu has so much conflicting information about its network system structure that I think I went more bald looking for how to set a static IP address for the server. Every time I set static, it would lose internet access. This is a 10 second job on Windows or macOS that took over an hour to iron out. My router config was fine, thanks. I limited the DHCP range and used an IP outside the range for the static address for the RPI. Georgiana Brummell<p>One thing I'm noticing about the Fediverse, and even Dreamwidth, although I love being there, is that they contain large numbers of specific groups, including those with mental disabilities/problems, the tecnology, programming, and/or gaming obsessed, those who want to save the world or at least be involved in it, vegans, and the politically obsessed. It's driving me mad! Normally, I seek those who love luxury, literature, classical music, theatre, fashion (particularly antique menswear or at least suits and ties), general cooking and/or fine dining, wine, antiques, history, and high culture. But lately, I've been finding myself asking "where are the normal people"! I didn't include the pet, nature, garden, or science people, or even the photographers in my above description because I love them and they are why I'm still here. But I'd like to go through one day without reading about the evils of meat-eaters or capitalism and how it must be overthrown, quarrels regarding those who follow this or that politician, how this or that platform and owner there of is bad and why we need to get people off of it, people's mental problems, or wars in foreign countries!
