Anyway , freshly bathed in this morning's early light, here's a lovely wee fold in kyanite-grade Moine schists above Loch Assapol in Mull. Fingertip at left for scale. 😊🥰 <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Geology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Mull" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mull</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Metamorphic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Metamorphic</span></a></p>

Vicky Veritas<p>The San Andreas fault is where two tectonic plates meet, and as an iconic Californian feature, should be easy to see and it is in places - but not like this. Along the Highway 14 freeway from Los Angeles, just north of the junction with Avenue S, the fault in all its glory is revealed in the famous Palmdale road cut. Here, millions of years-old lakebed sediments are crumpled and folded almost like a Van Gogh painting. The curl of the browns and tans of the 90 foot exposure catch every eye, and even the uninitiated know they have seen the might of the earth exposed. For better pictures and a tour of the fault, see: <a href="https://v-e-n-u-e.com/The-Great-Wave-A-Visit-to-the-San-Andreas-Fault" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">v-e-n-u-e.com/The-Great-Wave-A</span><span class="invisible">-Visit-to-the-San-Andreas-Fault</span></a></p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/FridayFold" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayFold</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FridayFault" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FridayFault</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/PalmdaleRoadCut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PalmdaleRoadCut</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Geology</span></a></p>
