FRENCH GOVERNMENT CONSIDERS TO BAN FAST FASHION

#Shein is the largest fashion retailer in the world -- seemingly popping up everywhere overnight. It's made billions by using #ForcedLabour and churning out cheap #plastic clothes that end up in #landfills.

Governments all over the world are considering penalties for companies that produce cheap, unsustainable clothes, and the French government is deciding right now whether or not to pass a similar bill.

One of the key issues that is often raised about #supplychains is the issue of #forcedlabour... so a key question is where does this often take place?

This (FT) chart gives some indication, although the magnitudes are also effected by the size of the economic areas themselves (that is, this is not measured as proportions but as absolute numbers)...

but what might shock you in the level in Europe (4mn #workers).

Forced labour is not an issue that just happens elsewhere!

Why proposed limitations on the right to strike would amount to the legalisation of #forcedlabour! (see LSE Blog below)

If you thought #class politics is a thing of the past, think again... this is yet more proof that it is the #Tories (not the left as the Rightest media would have it) that are conducting a #classwar
