This is an orchid with flowering stems 20-30cm tall (a foot or less). It has no leaves, though it grows among other plants, so there is foliage around, the stems are red and the upper part has many tiny typical orchid flowers. The flowers are composed of gold sepals and side petals bordered and finely lined with red/burgundy, giving an overall reddish look. The somewhat frilly lip is white with red/burgundy markings.

A single stem in a patch of sunlight rises from dried leaves on the ground in reddish brown and grey with dark shadows with scattered green leaves of various plants and a few blades of green grass.

The dog roses (𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘢) are blooming at Thompson Park:

A single blossom of a wild rose, its five petals so pale a pink as to be almost white around a golden center.

A smaller rose, just opening, pink petals like a radar dish around the fluffy yellow center, unfolding amidst green serrated oval leaves.

A common local shrub/small tree, in the rose family as so many temperate/northern fruits are- Amelanchier alnifolia Saskatoon Fruits are similar to blueberries, but more violet and much tastier many years, though, I don't get to taste many as the #birds love them too, and often eat them just before what we'd consider peak ripeness!

From the left, a single horizontal branch of Amelanchier alnifolia/ Saskatoon/ Serviceberry comes into frame to just past centre. It has a handful of medium green leaves, roughly oval, finely toothed only on the third toward the tip; they have many fine veins that go from the centre to the edge, angled slightly toward the tip. The end of the branch has a dense cluster of white flowers- same format as rose or apple, but with narrow petals with space between and a green centre with fine stamens sticking out. To the right and behind the branch is a blurred background: green from more of the same leaves and reddish brown from the fine twigs and dried leaves on the ground.

From lower right, a branch of Amelanchier alnifolia/ Saskatoon/ Serviceberry comes into frame filling most of the right side. It has several side twigs, each with a handful of medium green leaves, roughly oval, finely toothed only on the third toward the tip; they have many fine veins that go from the centre to the edge, angled slightly toward the tip.
