To me, the Soul People series reflects aspects of intrinsic humanity, including the suffering, alienation, confusion as well as the quest for joy, peace and understanding that people experience in their day to day lives. Depending upon the "soul" within, they deal with these challenges differently. In these images I am trying to explore and visualize what that might look like.

#SCOTUS’ decision not to wade into the #abortion-related matter is a setback for abortion opponents. But it follows the #Trump admin’s announcement that it will scale back #Biden-era efforts to prosecute demonstrators who interfere w/ #PatientAccess to #ReproductiveHealth clinics. The #DOJ instructed its #CivilRights division last month to drop 3 pending actions brought under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (#Face) Act, involving blockades in #Ohio, #Tennessee & #Pennsylvania.

I love a bit of pareidolia (the human habit of seeing faces in inanimate objects), and these fungi growing out of a sign post, which I came across to today's lunchtime dog walk in Glasgow, have created a great example. It reminds me of someone, but I can't quite put my finger on exactly who - possiby Beaker from the Muppet Show?

Aside from religious defenses, Art Weiss, an atty for Calvin Zastrow, said his client believed the use of #FACE Act was unconstitutional since it relied in part on #RoeVWade, which #SCOTUS overturned prior to the cases.

Weiss also criticized the charges for #conspiracy against rights. The #CivilRights statute makes it illegal to conspire to injure, oppress, threaten or intimidate people exercising their rights [which is exactly what the 8 people did].

The 7 were each #convicted of a #felony #conspiracy against rights & a Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (#FACE) Act offense, the #DOJ said. 2 defendants, Idoni & Edl, were also convicted of 2nd FACE Act offenses arising out of a blockade of a clinic in Saginaw in 2021.
Under the FACE Act, 1st-time offenders can be fined or imprisoned for up to 1 yr & subsequent offenders can be fined or imprisoned for up to 3 yrs, or both. #Conspiracy against rights is punishable by up to 10 yrs in #prison.
