@haitchfive<p><strong>zen80 update: improved tests</strong></p><p><strong><em>Apart from the already substantial unit tests, we now have two additional and rather stringent tests:</em></strong></p><ol><li><p>This test loads the ZX Spectrum 128 ROMs (0 and 1) and runs that machine's initialisation process. Then it shows a statistical analysis of the instruction coverage that's been executed during rom initialisation. (total percentage of different opcodes executed for each instruction group)</p></li><li><p>The second big test implements traps as barebones CP/M shims, loads ZEXDOC.COM and runs its extensive stress test (this can be long). </p></li></ol><p>Work is ongoing to support ZEXALL.COM as well, an even more stringent version of zexdoc that also tests undocumented registers and quirks of the Z80, one of the hardest tests known. This will be next, after I'm certain that this passes all ZEXDOC tests without a hitch. TECC :archlinux:<p>I’m trying to play the <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/FrontMission" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FrontMission</span></a> (Japan) <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/ROM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ROM</span></a> with the English fan translation patch. Here's what I’ve done so far:</p><p>✅ Verified that the original ROM matches the required hash (using the correct Japanese version).</p><p>✅ Applied the English patch successfully (IPS/BPS).</p><p>✅ Manually padded the ROM to exactly 4MB / 4,194,304 bytes, as required by the patch instructions.</p><p>✅ The <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/game" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>game</span></a> loads and plays the intro, but when I press Start, it loops the intro again.</p><p>✅ If I let the intro run all the way, I can reach a menu, but selecting "Start Game" just resets to the intro.</p><p>✅ Using <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/RetroArch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroArch</span></a> with various <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/SNES" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SNES</span></a> cores (<a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Snes9x" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Snes9x</span></a>, <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/bsnes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bsnes</span></a>, <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/bsnesmercury" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bsnesmercury</span></a>).</p><p>✅ Tried deleting save states and reloading from scratch.</p><p>Any ideas?</p><p><a href="https://romhackplaza.org/translations/front-mission-english-translation-snes/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">romhackplaza.org/translations/</span><span class="invisible">front-mission-english-translation-snes/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/romhack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>romhack</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/romhacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>romhacking</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/games" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>games</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/emulator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emulator</span></a></p>
