Diligence Jones<p>Things I've learned from spending the morning on Relationship Tok:</p><p>*Folks are obsessed with controlling their partners. Their dress. Their behavior. Their time. Their other relationships.</p><p>*People do not like boundaries or wouldn't recognize a boundary if it sat up and said, No thanks.</p><p>*Most folks learned this crap in their own families and get really upset when told it's unhealthy and problematic. </p><p>*The youth are expert in this controlling relationship crap out the gate -- which is gross and alarming.</p><p>*Respectability rules in relationships are a tool of social control and it's typically gendered.</p><p>*Folks are afraid of freedom. Their own and their partner's.</p><p>I don't want to control my partners. (First, that's exhausting as hell. I ain't got time for that.) They are free. I am free. Diligence Jones<p>While at the Munch:</p><p>One of your Joyfriends brings his partner over who wants your advice on a thing; </p><p>You give her advice on the thing;</p><p>Another Joyfriend introduces you to a new friend of theirs (and a mutual friend) and SHE wants to be friends and wants mentorship on a thing;</p><p>A mutual of a mutual introduces you to two more awesome folks they know (who immediately connect online) and suddenly, you find yourself in the middle of a community.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Poly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Poly</span></a> and <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ENM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ENM</span></a> don't have to be about drama, y'all.</p>
Diligence Jones<p>Today's Joyfriend Birthday Treat: </p><p>Joyfriend R brought me a very large pumpkin latte, and we had a long chin wag, catching up on family and friends. We talked a lot about dying and the way of Buddhism.</p><p>What I like about relationship anarchy and being <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SoPo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SoPo</span></a> is that every relationship has its own vibe. Ours used to have shenanigans.
