Simon dē Gulielmō 🐧<p>Considering setting up a dual boot system with linux and windows - any advice?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/dualboot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dualboot</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a></p>
druid of blueI keep switching my <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/desktop" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#desktop</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/distro" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#distro</a>. Right now I am on <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/nobara" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#nobara</a>, but I know my way around <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/debian" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#debian</a>-based ones much better. Also, more software is provided in .deb. <br><br>But I want <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/kde" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#KDE</a>, which is not widespread in the debianverse. At least not among the distros recommended for <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/gaming" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#gaming</a>.<br>Couldn't get debian itself to run (well), don't want snaps so no <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/kubuntu" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#kubuntu</a>, ran into update issues with <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/mint" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#mint</a>-with-kde... finally I was pointed int he direction of <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/tuxedoos" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#tuxedoOS</a>, and it felt a bit... box-y on my laptop. And it had no bigger UI size on the big monitor, only all at once. <br>So I let it rest for a bit until I stumbled over another deb-only package. Now I'm back to <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/dualboot" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#dualboot</a>, this time nobara/tuxedo. At some point, I _will_ find my distro. 😅 <br><br>I never had these issues with <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/windows" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#windows</a>. There, I had to take it as it was. Was it better? Hell no. I enjoy being spoiled for choice. (And also not being surveilled.)

Dawn Tåke 🌙 :sparkletrans:<p>Here's an odd question. Is it possible to daisy chain hard drives? Like, can I use one SATA port with a ribbon that has connectors for two hard drives. I think this was possible on my old IDE computer, but no idea with modern hardware.</p><p>I want to dual boot, and all the suggestions are a drive for each OS, but my laptop has very little physical space and all of the SATA ports are filled. That said, I might be able to shove a small M.2 SATA drive in there.
