VarceptiousI love puppy cuddles after a long day. Long day for both of us! He had to go to the eye doctor today and get his eyes checked. We learned he has a slight defect in his retina in both eyes, very minor, the doctor told me. Nothing yo be concerned about as it may just be in his family lines. VarceptiousThose moments when your little man, Birger, refuses to leave the side of the tub while you shower. Mind you I was sitting, but my heart rate spiked and Birger refused to leave my side and refused to stop watching me. I got out got dressed and everything; his eyes were locked on me. He followed me into my bedroom where I promptly flopped on the bed; he then ran off to do his own thing. VarceptiousProud papa moment today! Birger nose booped me four time this morning while I was getting dressed. I then looked at my fitbit and my heart rate was spiking, I then sat down and he got in my lap. This is the first time he's done persistent alerting until I paid attention! Up until now it's always been one boop and if I didn't notice it he would just walk away. VarceptiousEveryone! BIG NEWS! Birger and I just started the alert behavior training for my high heart rate yesterday. Done the training yesterday and some today. I was doing dishes and he walked over and nose booped my ankle! Checked my heart rate and it was spiking! I immediately sat down and jackpotted him and praised him. VarceptiousBig day for Birger today! We went to a park today and worked on leash manners and the leave it game. We saw people of all nationalities today, people running on the trail in hoodies and with hats. Even had a person talk to me and to Birger as they walked by and he ignored them! When he saw people in the hoodies running by he stopped to look at them, sometimes a single bark and then redirected when promted to and kept walking. He also did amazingly well at keeping pace with me! And I'm a fast walker but this little man takes it in stride! VarceptiousJust got home from an outing with Birger. His longest outing he's done so far. Had to go to the library to print stuff, went to the cell phone company so I could ask questions about a bill, and we did half an hour of my counseling session. By the time I was at counseling he'd been out and about for around an hour, so half an hour into counseling I had to excuse myself to bring Birger home. Overall he did really well! Need to get him more use to the car, and he did great today. VarceptiousSo proud of my Birger today! We started the day off with him helping me pack some stuff to start getting ready for our move in April. He got to see bubble wrap for the first time and hear it pop, which he didn't react to at all. And we just did a training session working with his little place mat to get him use to it. He has reliably going on it and sitting but not laying down. I did one down cue, he played down and I rewarded on the mat. Continued from there by doing reps, he would get onto the mat and then sit wait a second and then lay down without me needing to que him at all. We repeated this around ten times and he was reliably doing it! He's currently pass out sleeping it off because of all his hard work today.
