Crazywell Cross, Dartmoor, Devon
An ancient cross close to Crazywell Pool in southern Dartmoor. The cross is believed to have been one of many on Dartmoor which marked the Monk’s Path: an ancient trackway that linked Buckfast Abbey with those in Tavistock and Buckland.
Holloways of #Dartmoor these ancient lanes are also known as lychways and are often hundreds of years old. #Devon #landscape #photography

From C16, the Barnstaple (north Devon) tile industry produced lead-glazed relief tiles for local churches as well as ones in Cornwall. At least 64 designs defined by Keen (1969). These, found in Launcells, Cornwall, include fleur-de-lys, swan, heads, lion, as well as several flower designs.

Whilst away I managed to see Hound tor again, this is not a great photo by any means …. The last time I was there I was teaching photography in 2010. I’ve not been able to travel there since I became ill and a wheelchair user in 2013 so it was wonderful to see it again. It really has a looming presence as you approach it. #Dartmoor #Devon #photography
