🚩Every once in a while, Mozilla may decide to update these Terms. We will post the updated Terms online. We will take your continued use of Firefox as acceptance of such changes. We will post an effective date at the top of this page to make it clear when we made our most recent update.

Why not use Firefox to notify changes? There's already a version check. User hostile / deceptive pattern. Very techbro 🤢

Dear change.org,

The first screenshot is a deceptive design (the third option, “I only want to hear about this petition’s progress”, is missing, on purpose, to coerce people into signing up for notifications about other petitions by bundling them in with the one they’re supporting).

The second screenshot is just plain old incompetence.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Guess what, Firefox does the same thing (a refresh will reset your privacy settings and your default browser, all of which affect Mozilla’s revenue streams) but they’re a tad sneakier/cleverer(?) about it.

(Firefox is not private by default so getting you to reset your settings is how they try to influence you to return to their preferred configuration.)

To delete an old Facebook page (which, incidentally, I have no idea how it got created, think it was created via glitch), I had to follow this path, which I only found by googling it.

Select Page > Settings > Privacy > Facebook Page Information > Deactivation and deletion > Delete Page > Continue > [choices to transfer or download info] > Continue > [enter password] > Continue > [confirm deletion] > !Continue > [done]

How is this remotely OK?

I'm seeing this #deceptivedesign pattern more lately.
Step 1 (Bait) - Give us your email address for $10 off
Step 2 (Switch) - Oh, we're gonna need your phone number, as well
Now if you bail, they already have your email address.
Proceed, they get your phone number as well.

Peak Design just lost a customer instead of gaining one, since I don't want to reinforce dishonest design practices. If you're a designer and asked to design patterns like this, please refuse and/or suggest alternatives.
