@maartje I just created and posted a _blank page_ in Confluence at work. Mind, Atlassian #Confluence does a lot of heavy lifting for a wiki platform. But, just refreshing that page is
- 22 MB
- 240 queries.
For a blank page.
Meanwhile, the 117k character Wikipedia article for `Boston` - which has two dozen images - clocks in at 1.1 MB.
Its dumb. Instead of the server handing you a complete HTML page, your browser has to Tony Stark it together from scrap in a cave.
Notion or Confluence?
Maybe the right answer is: None of the above.
We laid out the facts, side-by-side, and introduced a flexible, open-source solution at the end.

Printing confluence pages is utterly horrible and shameful, esp given that it is relatively straightforward to provide CSS for printed versions of the page.
The PDF and DOC export versions are bad as well. I usually opt for the DOC export and then manually reduce the text size and the page margins.

I think I have to make a statement.
I liked working with #NovellNetware - versions 3 and 4.
I’m a big fan of #LotusNotes. It was hard getting used to not having it in my toolbox.
I believe that #agile values and principles are a good foundation for organizing team work and some most frameworks are a good starting point for using them.
I like #Atlassian #Jira and #Confluence.
I love working in a well designed #OpenOfficeSpace|s
Any takers?

Today I learned that you can check if groups of people, or particular individuals, can view a particular page in Confluence. You just need to use the horizontal ellipsis menu (\cellip), and select the option People who can view this page (see first image). You can then search (second image) for particular individuals.
When a Confluence page breaks down to gibberish cos a macro you've depended on is deprecated and then you have to manually go through 1001 pages to remove it and hopefully replace it with an equivalent macro but it doesn't exist so in the end you just copy and paste stuff

Dreams driven
By a thousand fleeting moments
Life’s confluences become
Amalgamated surrealities
Landscapes commingling
Timescales collapsed
Things barely noticed
Taking new significance
