davenicoletteThe Marana Big Phat Band and Marana Winds performed a joint concert April 9 at Mountain View High School in Marana, Arizona.The jazz band was up first with Jesus Jacquez conducting, and featured trombonist Lucas Schoeder in Robert Curnow's "Trajectory" for trombone and stage band. Lucas is a senior at Mountain View HS and an Arizona All-State musician.Here's a video of the band playing the Chicago classic, "Make Me Smile", by Jim Pankow (not a professional recording). The Marana Winds took the stage for the second half of the concert, under the baton of Karlena Leal. This is a community group for students, teachers, and adult amateurs in and around Marana. The program included a couple of school band favorites, "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams, and "Arabesque" by Samuel R.
