okanogen VerminEnemyFromWithin
Spent a full week trying to get answers from #Cogent about what #T5 is doing with power maintenance & setting up our dual feed power.
Me: Are you supplying the PDUs?
Them...
Them...
Them the day before: No. You are.
Me: YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!
Scramble scramble FOUND!
Me: You'll be there to hook it up.
Them: No. You're doing that.
Me: So i have authorization to lift the floor & energize our PDUs?
Them: Yes, but you dont need to, because you are on the line that isnt going down.
#sysadmin

okanogen VerminEnemyFromWithin
That was special. Having to scramble to bring down a hundred virtual machines, then the hardware, right in the middle of restoring from backups. Thanks #Cogent, you lying, incompetent, fucking shitbags. Let me tell you the odds we renew our contract. Zero, and sub-zero. Did we save money on your Kmart pricing? Well, the old saying is true, there's nothing more expensive than a great deal. #sysadmin

okanogen VerminEnemyFromWithin
#sysadmin weekend from hell.
Thanks #Cogent. Thanks for telling us the "testing" which "shouldn't affect our colo service" was actually a planned power outage that your operations people KNEW would bring down all hardware in our racks on a Friday evening.
Oh! And thanks again, for sending out an all clear on Friday night & again on Saturday, then Sunday, while in hour 30 of restoring our entire infrastructure, being told randomly by a contractor the power was going down AGAIN in 15 minutes.

bert hubert 🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇦
This is quite rare - the C root-servers are out of sync with the rest of the world by 3 days. Since that time there have been no changes in the root zone, except for DNSSEC signature updates. It appears all C instances (operated by #cogent) are serving an outdated zone. For now this has no operational impact, but that might change #DNSSEC - UPDATE, c-root received an update and now only lags behind by 1 day now. UPDATE2: fixed.
