Sally MackHow to fix dyes in new clothing? Help needed.I recently purchased clothing in both bright, mixed colors and rich solid colors made in Nepal at an import shop in Berkeley. The cloth is thin, but not sheer, 100% cotton. No clue as to dyes used.The woman at the shop suggested using 30% vinegar to set the colors, she said it works but gave no further details. 30% vinegar easier to find than anticipated, bought some at a hardware store.Advice I read is all over the place. Vinegar?Salt? Cold water? NelsonI know that cotton is "death cloth" that does not insulate when wet and can be dangerous to wear in cold (or even lukewarm) weather. I know that wool does insulate when wet, and therefore makes a good base layer in winter.
