Schlockluster Video<p>On June 27, 1974, Clay Pigeon debuted in Oslo, Norway. Here’s a sketch of Telly Savalas!<br>.<br><a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/LaneSlate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LaneSlate</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/TomStern" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TomStern</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/TellySavalas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TellySavalas</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/ActionFilm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ActionFilm</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/CrimeFilm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CrimeFilm</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/ActionMovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ActionMovies</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/PostItArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PostItArt</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/TCMUnderground" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TCMUnderground</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/70sActionMovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>70sActionMovies</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/Art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Art</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/PopArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PopArt</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/MovieArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MovieArt</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/MovieHistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MovieHistory</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>I think I keep hearing his derpy flapping, but the one time I saw the bird, it was one of the mourning doves. <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/Today" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Today</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>Haven't seen <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> in two days. :( Maybe we'll never see him again.</p><p><a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/today" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>today</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>I didn't see <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> yesterday. I hope he's ok. <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/Today" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Today</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>As I was writing this, Clay flapped over to show his appreciation. Here he is in the tree about 15’ away and 12’ up from where I’m sitting. Then he flapped the 6’ to the roof over me and looked down, then walked closer to he was almost directly above me. Lookit heeem!! </p><p>(Interestingly, sometimes when they’re feeling clever/cute/funny/whatever, the cats will look at us from the roof in the same way.)</p><p>Now he’s back at the triangle pecking away. Midnight came back this way and is in line with me but maybe 20’ over, mostly hidden, pointed towards Clay so she can see him, but in total rest pose. She’s not planning anything. Not today.</p><p><a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> </p><p>3/</p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>When she got to the point of the triangle (literally. the walk has a triangle in the middle for plants) equidistant between the 3 of us, she turned her head towards him. I’m still making “noooo, stay away” warning noises. She’s still vectoring. Then she makes that chatter noise at him, the same one she makes at birds while looking out the window. I thought that was her hunter noise, but maybe is a frustrated-I-can’t-eat-that noise. Then she kept right on vectoring away, and Clay could rest easy. <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> </p><p>2/</p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>My cat Midnight now knows not to eat the pigeon. She really WANTS to, and still might TRY, but she knows he’s special.</p><p>Clay was eating in his little area of the walk, for quite awhile before I noticed him, while Midnight had been lounging 25 feet away in full view. When I noticed, I praised her, then decided to toss down more seed. As I approached he bopped off a few feet but stayed closer than usual. All while I’m talking to Midnight about Clay being our friend. She came up beside me, and I started telling her no, and she vectored towards him but in an “Oh but I’m innocently going this other way” stance. Not stalking stance… <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayBird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayBird</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/Today" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Today</span></a> </p><p>1/</p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>Speaking of which, he just showed up. Here he is pecking at the ground. <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>Update on our random new pigeon. Clay visits every day. We throw seeds which he eats eventually, &amp; spray cats we catch stalking him. A friend of my mom’s saw a domesticated pigeon in their yard, maybe a mile away. It may be the same bird, or someone let their flock go.</p><p>We can tell when he’s coming bc he makes a tremendous derpy flapping sound. Not subtle at all. He’ll hang out watching us on the porch, from the roof or tree. We often don’t see him, just hear that flapping. He’s either really slow or really clever, bc he’s always cocking his head like he’s trying to figure us out. We talk to him and I’m pretty good at making pigeon noises, so I do that too, even though he never talks. (We also have nearby mourning doves, which I never see but hear often.) He hasn’t let us get closer than 10’ which bodes well for his survival chances. </p><p>We’re thinking of building some kind of open coop for him, but that needs research and maybe more energy than we have right now. <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/YardTales" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YardTales</span></a></p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p><a href="https://defcon.social/tags/ClayPigeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPigeon</span></a> just flew to a closer branch to me when I called them, so that’s cute.</p>
Mx. Luna Corbden<p>I’ve been googling (edit: typo) but does anyone know what kind of <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/bird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bird</span></a> this is? It’s dove-like, but larger, maybe 25% larger than a grey city pigeon. It has orange feet, and over all is a rusty brown, with a patch of iridescent green feathers around the back of the neck. It has a ruffle of feathers that stick up on its head. It has a circle of white skin around its eyes, and its beak is stubby and the same color as around the eyes. It’s been staring at me for the last 15 minutes after I chased the cats away from it while it was having some kind of trouble on the ground.
