This is the most amazing thing ever. Eastern #Chipmunks are extremely territorial and yet these two shared a log for a bit.
When it’s time to mate, female Merriam’s Chipmunks (Neotamias merriami) call out to attract a partner—sometimes for up to 15 minutes. A nearby male will dash over, jump excitedly around her, and if she’s receptive, they mate for about 15 seconds.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of this cute chipmunk after seeing its little pink nose!

Another sign of spring arrives - the first #chipmunks were running around the woods at the end of the yard on Monday, but this is the first one that's come up close enough for a photo, to snack on the spilled birdseed.

I love seeing chipmunks run around at home ... they seem most visible during the fall and winter, though surely they are around year-round. Here's one on a mission to bring back seeds to the burrow.

My latest friend, Thin Tail. Spent about an hour with him today. We've been in "training" the last few days and now we've become acclimated to each other.

In the past few days, I've noticed fantastic cooperation between our resident chipmunk and squirrels. While they compete for the never ending supply of peanuts, when one of them chirps about danger, the other often repeats it in their language. I think each time until now the squirrel started chirping and then Micro Chip repeated it until he felt it was safe, but today, believe Micro Chip started it.
