Back in December 2023, Osage became ill with a urinary infection and blockage. Rushed to the emergency vet, he spent several days there. The bill totaled over $5,000.

Little Mitzy takes exercise very seriously. That's why she runs up two flights of stairs a dozen times each day and then waits for me to carry her back down.

Found #cat on the ground floor windowsill, outside. Window was tilted, nose bloody, drooling, and meowing miserably! 
The cat belongs to the apartment, but it looked like it had been on the streets for weeks.
That neighbor is away, others don't know anything.
Cat rescue opens at 7pm, shelter won't pick up. One neighbor had a good idea: Called landlord (who has their number). Hope the poor cat gets help soon. Left it tuna and water, but it hid under a car.

Because she loves to drink from the similarly curved faucet in the bathroom next door, I just installed this new cat fountain for Notty cat. So far she has sniffed it, but is mostly indifferent. She is a cat, after all. Hopefully she'll warm up to it. If not, I'll try removing the spigot, which should result in a bubbling spring effect she may find more acceptable. I can always reinstall the pipe later.
We got home last night, and both cats are fine, tolerating each other, and not a lot more, but that's fine for now. Every time I sit down in the living room, Notty is in my lap. Watched TV for a couple hours with my wife, and Notty was there almost the whole time. She has no sense of personal space, and I had to nudge her out of my face and between me and the TV several times. She doesn't mind. She's a pretty mellow cat.

Little Mitzy is one of six kittens who were headed for a one-way ride to the junk yard. Their mom had given birth in an old car that was going to be towed away. Metro Cat Rescue saved the whole little family and continues to care for them.

My wife, Chris, had to buy a new (much better) phone over the weekend as her old one died while she was traveling. Tonight, she tried out the new camera with this shot of the new cat, Notty (AKA Not My Cat) and I chilling on the recliner watching TV. I think the cat is settling in nicely.
Andy originally was living outside, but was very friendly. Each morning when a Metro Cat Rescue volunteer brought him breakfast, he'd run over to greet and get petted. It was believed that a local cat feeder, since deceased, would bring a few of her little friends inside from time to time.

Notty Cat has been showing a lot of interest in our back door since the weather has improved the last few days (we used to feed her on the landing outside before taking her in). Tonight I was hauling in some boxes of books from the shop building (where she lived for the first month with us) into the house through the back door. After finishing the job, I went into the shop and happed to walk into my wife's office. Something moved. It was Notty! (cont.)

A fire at a decades-old neighborhood cat sanctuary on New York's Long Island killed the community's beloved "Cat Man" and dozens of the animals.
Chris Arsenault, who opened the sprawling Happy Cat Sanctuary on his property in Medford, died trying to save as many cats as possible during the fire Monday, one of his volunteers said.

Charlie (Left) was born outside in the spring a few years ago. When the weather began to get cool in the fall, he became ill. Metro Cat Rescue volunteer took Charlie inside. Many months later, his mom, Quad was rescued from the streets. Charlie immediately recognized his mom.

Notty cat house acclimation update. We had another outing this evening (I was too busy most of the day to supervise a wander). Susy was curious. Notty cat checked out her litter box in the laundry room, but did not use it. They had a little face-to-face in the dining room "crossroads" of the house. About four feet apart. Susy was calm. Notty growled and spitted. Susy stood fast and growled back. No raised backs or flattened ears. Progress.

The introduction of Notty cat to our house is going well. Let her out of the guest room to explore (supervised) and interact with our cat Susy. To my surprise, normally timid Susy is very curious and not at all afraid. Notty is the one who is afraid and keeps hissing and spitting. Susy seems relatively unperturbed. At one point she (accidently) cornered Notty in the living room and Notty got a bit upset, but no big confrontation.
