National Public Radio feature on Willis Conover, by Scott Simon on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, sometime in 1987. Willis Conover was the longtime radio DJ/host of the Voice of America Jazz Hour and other music programs on the VOA shortwave service. He was very well known internationally, especially behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War, tho he was virtually unknown in the US. He died in May 1996 at age 75.

Dear Fediverse, I am looking for a super simple streaming tool that is just as brilliant as OBS, but only for the use case of streaming a presentation (yes pptx is still dominant 😞).

But webcam on, select presentation..and GO GO GO!

There may be a config button on it.. but for the stimulation of more (live) broadcasting via PeerTube that is not a USP. it has to be simple above all! 95% of the use cases in my opinion.

'Experts did not want to speculate on Tuesday’s avalanche until they have had a chance to inspect the site.

Mrs. #Dore, better known among enthusiasts as the “Mother of Wireless,” has severed her connection with 2YK #Broadcasting Station, with which she has been associated for some months in an honorary capacity. She has been responsible for many of the excellent concerts arranged for the listener-in, for which she has earned the lasting thanks of those who own wireless sets. Mrs. Dore is not leaving Wellington, but is merely giving up her voluntary work at 2YK.

The #FCC is investigating #SanFrancisco -based #KCBS for its coverage of #immigration enforcement actions in #SanJosé last month, sparking concerns from press freedom advocates and drawing #RightWing #backlash to the #radio station.
#KCBS is considered one of the world’s first rradio stations, and formative to #SiliconValley history. Its original license goes back to #CharlesHerrold in 1909 and his radio- #telephony system. Based in San Jose, it’s historically significant as #Marconi himself.
Attacking this station which survived through two world wars, the Great Depression, and led to the development of Silicon Valley is bound to have immense significance. They’re literally attacking the nation’s oldest broadcaster, which is integral to information and American democracy!
