Throwback to when I read the National Book Award winning James by Percival Everett last year just like everyone else.

I remember when this one came in on submission, the excitement was palpable across the floor.

What’s wild is that I haven’t worked at Knopf Doubleday in nearly two years, just to give you some perspective on how long it still takes for the book to come out.

I’m still at Penguin Random House, just now I’m in corporate instead of within a publishing division. It’s been an amazing learning experience, but I also hope one day I’ll be closer to the books again.

And here's my other new room mate, little Alfie. Alfie has had a really hard start in life and doesn't trust humans yet (he has a point). But after a first few days mostly hiding, he now feels safe enough to explore the house and play with his brother. I will try my best to earn his trust ❤️

Last summer we lost the two of our oldest cats soon after each other. While I still miss them terribly, I am also happy to say we just adopted two little new ones. This is Timmy. He and he his family were found on the streets when he was just about two months old. His brother Alfie had been hit by a car and unfortunately lost one of his paws, but he healed and now Alfie and Timmy live here with us. They were very scared at first, not used to humans, but they are getting better day by day. Timmy is very curious and climbs in and on everything!
