Shantell Powell<p>One of the very few times I ever went to get a manicure, the beautician looked at my cuticles and said, "You have a lot of skin."</p><p>I wasn't sure what to say to that, but landed on "thanks. It's in case I ever get burned and need a skin graft."</p><p>I'm not sure what response she expected, but it wasn't that. </p><p>Medical professionals have taken strange interest in my body, too. Here are things doctors and physiotherapists have told me:<br>- you have the cleanest ears I've ever seen. (Said by two separate doctors on two separate occasions)<br>- you have the best thoracic awareness I've ever seen. <br>- those are the most prominent patella I've ever seen. </p><p>There was also one time, back when I was a figure model for art schools, that the instructor was talking about da Vinci's Vitruvian Man and how he was supposed to represent the ideal human proportions. She went on to say that no one really had those proportions, and to prove it, she started measuring me. </p><p>Of course I ended up matching up. Morton's toes and all. But that's just the trappings.
