plactagonic<p>I am unsure what to do next. The weather doesn't look that good in the next week but what bothers me more is the state of the route I would like to take. (Yeah they don't bother to sign them in Spain and it is really bad for EV routes). </p><p>So I am considering taking the train to the French border and start riding there, at least on the official website it looks like it should be fully developed with signs and stuff. Cycling Nomads<p>We made our way to Taourirt, a small town just a few kilometers from the gas station where we had spent the night. Needing to restock on supplies. We stopped for coffee and breakfast. But just as we were about to set off again, the wind picked up, and dark storm clouds rolled in.</p><p>Realizing the weather was only getting worse, we checked out the town’s two hotels and decided to stay at Hotel Riad in the main square. Our room was simple but spacious, with a balcony and a good hot bucket shower. What we thought would be just an overnight stop turned into a longer stay—more bad weather was on the way. After a few days of crazy winds and rain we were happy to hit the road again. alxtrnr<p>Nearly finished planning a couple of weeks cycle touring in Ireland. Really looking forward to the trip. Leave is booked for the last two weeks in May. I was lucky at this time last year with sunshine and blue skies pretty much everyday riding from Kent to Orkney via Cape Wrath. jalict<p>Regarding trekking and touring bikes; I see SO many entry bikes with suspension - I understand the intention is to make them comfortable. But then I see most of the biking community talking about "tire will do the most suspension".</p><p>if this is actually applies; why is it that bike producers put suspension on almost ALL entry bikes I can find? plactagonic<p>Today my route was 105km, it sounds like a lot but more than 20km was by ferry. This ups my ferry count to 4.</p><p>1st in the <a href="https://f.cz/tags/spain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spain</span></a> where I thought it was a bridge, with the route overlay in OsmAnd I couldn't tell.</p><p>2nd from Ayamonte to <a href="https://f.cz/tags/portugal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>portugal</span></a> </p><p>3rd and 4th today. I arrived to the first port 5 min after it left and had to wait for an hour. plactagonic<p>I arrived to Lisbon. </p><p>It was smooth ride, on some sections I averaged more than 25km/h so fast ride on nice roads. plactagonic<p>Last few days from Tavira weren't the best, I rode few km on coast, smooth gravel and nice wood walkways then it is mostly golf courses and holiday resorts. I frequently lost the route so I couldn't ride what I had planned (I always was so frustrated by the resorts that I just ended early).</p><p>Today I just rode from Lagos to Aljezur and skipped the Sagres. I didn't mind the small hills or little bit worse roads sometimes. plactagonic<p>After I get drenched 2 days ago I just decided to stay in Tavira as I planned. So few km in <a href="https://f.cz/tags/Spain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spain</span></a> and ferry in Ayamonte to <a href="https://f.cz/tags/Portugal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Portugal</span></a>.</p><p>It was after the rain so some little issues on the road but nothing serious that couldn't be ridden around. The Via Verde del Litoral is flat and boring, yes it may look nice on the pictures but riding several km in straight line is soul crushing, I want hills (they will come).</p><p>In Ayamonte I found out that I couldn't make it anyway because I wouldn't catch the last ferry. So it somehow worked out even with the setback.</p><p>The difference on the Portugese side of border was immediately noticeable- on road it feels like a game of who can overtake me closer. plactagonic<p>The last 2 days in <a href="https://f.cz/tags/Spain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spain</span></a> were mixed, I rode from El Rocío which has this wild west feel to it but I foolishly decided to rode through it on bike. It was bad idea all roads are this fine sand and lots of potholes, probably good for the horses but nearly unrideable on my bike. </p><p>From there I got on the coastal route, that was nice separated or with little to no car traffic.
