Dr. Ferrous<p>Gandalf is currently shredding an old <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/HDD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HDD</span></a> that no longer stores backups and has a ton of FERPA protected files. The command has been running for 10 min and it's only done 17Gb/1.9Tb on the first pass... there will be 4 passes. Is this going to take all weekend? Stay tuned. </p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/BackupYourData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BackupYourData</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/exciting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>exciting</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/NotReally" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NotReally</span></a></p>
Dr. Robert M Flight<p>One thing I didn't think about when purchasing two of these SanDisk rugged drives, is they don't have a status light that would provide some indication that the drive has died.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BackupYourData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BackupYourData</span></a></p>

RIP 860 EVO, you were my first SSD, and you have since paved the way for all my future paranoia of file retention.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ssd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ssd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BackUpYourData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BackUpYourData</span></a></p>
Recorded Paradox :donor:<p>Hi All, here is my <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Introduction</span></a>.</p><p>Raised in the 90s but surrounded by a culture of the 80s. First OS I regularly used was Windows 95. First OS I bricked by trying to bypass PGP full disk encryption was Windows XP. Since that was the family computer, my punishment was reformatting the drive, reinstalling the OS, its programs, and explaining to my siblings why their files could not be restored. <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Learnfromyourmistakes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Learnfromyourmistakes</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Backupyourdata" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Backupyourdata</span></a></p><p>Over the years, I have worked in <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/webhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webhosting</span></a>, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/datacenter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>datacenter</span></a> operations, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/sysadmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sysadmin</span></a>, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/cyberthreatintel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyberthreatintel</span></a>, and <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/infosec" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>infosec</span></a>.
