André<p>Sad news for the <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/eurovision" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurovision</span></a> :eurovision_heart_2025: Grand Final:</p><p>My local broadcaster reached out again and told me that the bad audio mix is (at least partly) due to EBU rules. Specifically, the LFE channel isn't allowed to be used in competing songs.</p><p>This must be a new rule, since my <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/ESC2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESC2024</span></a> :eurovision_heart_2024: recording has full 5.1 audio, even during the acts. Sounds much better in comparison, in my opinion.</p><p>I again recommend reaching out to your broadcaster to get that changed at the EBU level for next year. :boostOK:</p><p><a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/eurovision2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurovision2025</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/ESC2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESC2025</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/EBU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EBU</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/ESC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESC</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/eurovision2026" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurovision2026</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/ESC2026" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESC2026</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/AudioEngineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioEngineering</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/AC3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AC3</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/MultichannelAudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MultichannelAudio</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/Broadcasters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Broadcasters</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/Television" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Television</span></a> <a href="https://glitch.dumbly.net/tags/EurovisionSongContest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EurovisionSongContest</span></a></p>

Arend (they) 🏳️‍⚧️🍉<p>Someday there will be a plug-in that emulates the tiresome workflow of matching an old version of ProTools to an old version of macOS such that it doesn't crash on you because that had such a SOUND to it, you know? Arend (they) 🏳️‍⚧️🍉<p>This plugin is flippin' brilliant. It does that modal resonator/synthesis thing that Ableton producers are hot for these days. I'm demoing it rn to add a little zhuzh to a vocoder, and... take my money.</p><p>Plus, it's native on <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>. Arend (they) 🏳️‍⚧️🍉<p>I may be a weirdo for this, but I generally prefer the sound of dynamic mics over condenser mics.</p><p>And I gotta show some more love to the Beta 58a. I used this mic to record a female vocalist last week, and with some subtle EQ, compression, and reverb for tracking, it sounded like a record already.</p><p><a href="https://musicians.today/tags/AudioEngineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioEngineering</span></a> <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/MusicProduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicProduction</span></a></p>
Arend (they) 🏳️‍⚧️🍉<p>I'd love to discover a way to record a piece of music that starts without click and then continues to a click in the middle of it. An external metronome could be triggered by foot pedal, for instance. But could it be done all within the DAW? Has someone devised a <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/Reaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Reaper</span></a> script for such a thing?</p><p><a href="https://musicians.today/tags/MusicProduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicProduction</span></a> <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/AudioEngineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioEngineering</span></a></p>

My dreams are a reality! It's fascinating to flip through my different saturation plugins and gain deeper insight into what they're doing. Arend (they) 🏳️‍⚧️🍉<p>Finally figured out a good mic setup for recording voice and acoustic guitar in two tracks: RE20 and Beta 58 butt-to-butt, with the RE20 pointed at the chin and the Beta 58 pointed downward toward the 1st string at the 12th fret. The hypercardioid pattern of the Beta 58 is especially helpful.</p><p><a href="https://musicians.today/tags/AudioEngineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioEngineering</span></a> <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/MusicProduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicProduction</span></a></p>
