Gunnarsson<p>I recently bought an R36S handheld emulation device. It's clearly a budget device, but so far the value for money has been amazing. Getting acquainted with ArkOS now to reach my ultimate goal of buying the device in the first place - getting the Amiga version of Speedball II running. Even if that should fail being able to run old favorites like Sonic 2 and Super Mario World in a comfortable way is amazing! <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/r36s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>r36s</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/arkos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arkos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/amiga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amiga</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrogames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogames</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/emulation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>emulation</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/emulator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>emulator</span></a></p>

It's supported by so many different firmwares; <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/batocera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>batocera</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/arkos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arkos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/minUI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>minUI</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/muOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>muOS</span></a> etc.</p><p>Have you tried one?</p>
🧿🪬🍄🌈🎮💻🚲🥓🎃💀🏴🛻🇺🇸<p>But the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Powkiddy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Powkiddy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RGB10X" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RGB10X</span></a> is an interesting option as well; similar performance as the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RG35XXPlus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RG35XXPlus</span></a> so it's one analog stick could do some <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PS1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PS1</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gaming</span></a>! 🧿🪬🍄🌈🎮💻🚲🥓🎃💀🏴🛻🇺🇸<p>I think the safest device for this purpose is the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Anbernic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anbernic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RG35xx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RG35xx</span></a>; it can play a ton of games, has wifi for achievements, and can be had for as little as $50. They are common and have a lot of support from OSes like <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/minUI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>minUI</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MuOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MuOS</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ArkOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArkOS</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/knulli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>knulli</span></a>. The people I want to gift them to wouldn't appreciate Gamecube/Dreamcast support much anyway.</p><p><a href="https://anbernic.com/products/rg35xx-h" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">anbernic.com/products/rg35xx-h</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
🧿🪬🍄🌈🎮💻🚲🥓🎃💀🏴🛻🇺🇸<p>I have a spreadsheet where I'm keeping track of various <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retroGaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retroGaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/handhelds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handhelds</span></a> and the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> firmwares that officially support them. I'm surprised which device is so far out in front of all the others. </p><p>The <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TrimUiSmartPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TrimUiSmartPro</span></a>; supported by <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/batocera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>batocera</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retronix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retronix</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retropie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retropie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/recalbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recalbox</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lakka" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lakka</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/arkos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arkos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/knulli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>knulli</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/crossmixOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>crossmixOS</span></a>. It's not a powerful device, a little faster than the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Anbernic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anbernic</span></a> RGXX line, but at just under $100 it could be good for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Dreamcast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dreamcast</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/trimui" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trimui</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/videoGames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>videoGames</span></a></p><p><a href="https://amzn.to/3Nwo7Vq" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">amzn.to/3Nwo7Vq</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Jeremy<p>Back from a short and very hot roadtrip to Arizona for my wife's birthday.<br>I didn't have a lot of free time but managed to get ArkOS installed on the <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/Anbernic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anbernic</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/RG503" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RG503</span></a> I got right before leaving town and test it out.</p><p>The stock firmware experience of this thing was awful and even after getting <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/ArkOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArkOS</span></a> set up I haven't been able to get anything but PS1 &amp; PSP games to load for some reason.</p><p>The main draw for me to get this <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/RetroGamingHandheld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroGamingHandheld</span></a> was the <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/OLED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OLED</span></a> display, and this is what it looks like...</p>
