Third spruce tree on the left<p>Hrmm. How many words are in this <a href="https://mas.to/tags/PDF" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PDF</span></a>? There's gotta be somewhere in <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Adobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Adobe</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a> that gives me a word count... </p><p>&lt;10 minutes later&gt; &lt;google "how do PDF word count"&gt; &lt;first result:&gt; </p><p>_"Export PDF to Word, use Document Properties in Word"_</p><p>OH COME ON</p>
FeralRobots<p>Right now the only way I've figured out how to turn off reflow in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>acrobat</span></a> is to delete/rename the entire Acrobat DC subtree in Regedit - which among other things means reverting to "New Acrobat", which is supposed to make our work go faster by...eliminating access to 70% of features?!<br>I have to use this product for at least another 4 years &amp; they'll probably turn off the ability to "disable New Acrobat" in that time frame, but hopefully by then someone will have been shamed into fixing it.</p>
FeralRobots<p>Anybody know how to turn off <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/reflow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reflow</span></a> in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a>? I turned it on to check a document I'm remediating, now it can't be turned off. (<a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Adobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Adobe</span></a> describes a method that requires creating a totally new user profile, which I'll try after this, but I need a better method as this is something I need to do pretty routinely.)<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pdf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pdf</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/a11y" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>a11y</span></a></p>

Richard W. Woodley ELBOWS UP 🇨🇦🌹🚴‍♂️📷 🗺️<p>Just uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader and saved 9GBs on my hard drive, I suspect they installed the full <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a> but only the Reader was activated unless I paid for the full program. Waste of space as I have free <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/PDF24" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PDF24</span></a> that has a better interface and does more.</p>

Well that's a pleasant surpr-. <br>Ah nope. Too good to be true. Its not editing PDF, you can't modify anything in the PDF document itself, you can only add things to an annotation layer. </p><p>I.e. marketing bullshit. </p><p>Back to Adobe <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a> aka "the necessary evil".</p>

FeralRobots<p>At this time, as far as I can see, best-practice for using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Reflow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reflow</span></a> in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a> is:<br>1. Never use it on an unsaved document.<br>2. Never save changes while it's toggled on.<br>3. Always toggle it off before shutting down Acrobat.<br>4. Always restart Acrobat after using it.</p><p>Only by following all these rules have I been able to be certain that reflow would not corrupt existing documents.</p>

Sarah Fackrell<p>Okay <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Acrobat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acrobat</span></a> experts, I'm curious: </p><p>When I download a patent in PDF form from the PPubS basic search page,</p><p><a href="https://ppubs.uspto.gov/pubwebapp/static/pages/ppubsbasic.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ppubs.uspto.gov/pubwebapp/stat</span><span class="invisible">ic/pages/ppubsbasic.html</span></a></p><p>Then open it and try to "Save As" in Acrobat (for Mac), I get this error message. </p><p>What gives? I didn't have this problem with the USPTO's old full-patent system (PATFT).</p><p>To be clear, I'm not asking for workarounds. I'm wondering what might be causing this.</p>
