Sunday night jazz night in Brooklyn.

Kazuki Yamanaka New Quartet at Scholes Street Studio.
Solid set in a very intimate space. Any chance you get to see Alan Mednard is a chance well taken.

Ethan Iverson Trio at Lunatico.
If the world collapses tomorrow this was a worthy last show for me, sublime. My first time seeing him without the Bad Plus and his first time playing in winter boots, as he proudly announced at the top of both sets.

Margaret Explosion at Skylark Lounge.

Outside of their usual monthly gig at the cafe and outside of any noise constraints. Electric bass made a huge difference in their sound. Stretched out more than usual and had some spectacular moments. Plus they were giving away free CDs, too bad I don't have any way of playing it.

Yo La Tengo appropriately translates to "I have it." Thanks as always NYC. And a happy new year to all the more fortunate.

Three in a row fully sated a desire I didn't even know I had, though gotta say those Hanukkah shows are oddly addictive. Might be twitching from withdrawal tonight.
